A failed plot targeting Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir

Uncovering a Sinister Plot: A Detailed Analysis of the May 9 Looting

(By Tanveer Iqbal)

The events of 9 May and the subsequent looting that took place in various cities across Pakistan sent shockwaves across the nation. As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that the looting was not aspontaneous response to the arrest of Imran Khan, but rather a premeditated plot with a specific target – Army Chief Syed Asim Munir. This blog aims to delve into the evidence and shed light on the orchestrated nature of the events that took place on that fateful day.

Syed Asim Munir- Pakistan's Army Chief

Unraveling the sinister plan

The coordinated nature of the attacks, targeting military installations and landmarks from Quetta to Peshawar within moments, indicated a carefully thought-out plan. The surprisingly specific targets chosen such as camps, Corps Commander's House, Askari Plaza, CSD, ISI offices and airbases raised suspicions about the real intentions behind the looting. The selective targeting of defensive features and the desecration of monuments and statues further indicated a calculated motive.

Imran Khan role

Imran Khan, then Prime Minister of Pakistan, was consolidating his power and sought to secure his position by securing the loyalty of the military leadership. By appointing General Faiz Hameed as army chief, he intended to create a long-term pact and maintain absolute power for the next decade. However, several obstacles, including allegations of corruption and the subsequent vote of no confidence, hampered his plans and forced him to rethink his strategy.

March and Sit-in in Rawalpindi

To prevent the appointment of Syed Asim Munir as the army chief, Imran Khan planned a march and sit-in to Rawalpindi. Despite having control over Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir, he was unable to organize a significant rally. The failure led to frustration and intensified efforts to create divisions in the military through social media campaigns and targeted criticism of the army chief.

External facilitators and international stories

Imran Khan's external facilitators who were part of this plot tried to spread human rights concerns to divert attention from the failed plot. Calls for human rights from foreign countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States have raised questions about their motives as they consider their own tough actions in similar circumstances. This outside interference further underscored the organized nature of the events.

Unraveling the plot

Despite the conspirators' careful planning, their plot ultimately failed. Armed with sufficient evidence, the authorities were able to identify the culprits behind the looting and rioting. The failure of the uprising against the military showed the strength and resilience of the military institution that rose to the challenge.

Conclusion

The events of May 9 and the subsequent looting were not a spontaneous outburst but a precisely planned plot targeting army chief Syed Asim Munir. The evidence, the investigation and the identification of the culprits shed light on the organized nature of the events. The failed attempt to sow divisions within the military and the resilience of the institution serves as a reminder of the strength and unity of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the face of such challenges.
